AN EARLY AND RELIABLE STOOL SCREENING METHOD CAN SAVE LIVES
Most healthcare systems offer patients above 50
a FIT test as screening followed by a colonoscopy
in case of a positve FIT-outcome. Colonoscopy,
despite being the diagnostic method of choice, is
not always undertaken by the patient. This is mainly
due to the unpleasant and time-consuming aspect
of the method. Occult blood tests (FITs), on the other
hand, are more widely accepted by the population,
but can only provide indirect evidence and often
only at later, bleeding stages of the disease.
